Hundreds of farmers demand trade justice
The Pakistan Kissan Ittehad (Farmer's Unity in Pakistan) commemorated Global Week of Action and Farmer's Struggle Day of 17th April with a rally and a press conference.
Tahir Hasnain, Coordinator of WTO WatchGroup Secretariat in Pakistan, reported in an email in OWINFS listserv that 12 hundred farmers - of which 25% were women - participated in the Multan rally.
This was followed the next day with a press conference in Islamabad Press Club.
'Mr. Sarwar Khan Ronjho, a farmer and National Coordinator of the Pakistan Kissan Ittehad took lead in addressing the press conference and highlighted farmer's concerns raised during the Multan rally,' Hasnain added.
