Recent Assessments: Africa to Lose Out from WTO Negotiations, Even in Agriculture

A number of recent studies have predicted losses for Africa from the Doha trade round, in the industrial sector, but also in agriculture. This is contrary to the conventional view that many African policy makers have. Many are of the opinion that even if they lose out in the industrial sector, in the long run, their agricultural sectors will benefit from the reforms undertaken by those who are now heavily protecting the sector
